RED on RED sets out to organise a number of special events in London , throughout the year, focusing on raising awareness in a style that relates to the 18-30 age group. Education and prevention campaigns have waned in recent years due to government cutbacks. Our aim is to produce a new image, both fashionable and educational. It is an ambitious project and can, with vision, imagination and support become a recognised cause, building on success from year to year. The number of people living or diagnosed with HIV in the UK is set to increase 47% by the end of 2005. Creating awareness of HIV/AIDS, the related problems and the people it affects should no longer be secondary, and become just as prominent as other fundraising efforts. This is especially relevant amongst young adults who are becoming complacent about the disease, due to the partial success of combination drugs & therapy. “A recent survey by Terrence Higgins Trust found that almost two thirds of young people believed they were not given enough information about the risks of unprotected sex, so it is unsurprising that we are now seeing the country's worst sexual health epidemic since the NHS was founded.”
